I love this time of year!! I get to pull out my hubby's old college jersey and prepare for cheering on our alma mater! It's the fresh smell of fall, a chill is in the air, and so many people are hoping to get a W when their favorite college football team steps on the field. The year 2020 has been so disappointing and we were all hopeful that football was something that would lift our spirits. Unfortunately, Covid is still affecting many states therefore, some colleges have decided it's in the best interest of the team that they cancel football.
Initially, I was disappointed but at the same time I completely understand. Health before wealth. It's the responsible thing to do if you do not feel like you can keep everyone safe. All of these players and coaches have families and to risk their lives is just not worth it. I have young boys that are athletes and when they head off to play college sports one day, I pray that their coaches make decisions in the best interest of them as well. So, with that being said I will still be wearing my jersey every weekend to of course represent my hubby, but also to applaud the University for making a decision to keep everyone safe. Yes, of course they will lose money. However, the alternative of losing lives and having that weigh on your conscience is even more dreadful.
Nevada will be back next year and I will be here eagerly waiting to cheer them on! I'm proud of my Wolfpack and I stand behind their decision. It was definitely the right thing to do. Although I will miss them on the field, I am grateful everyone will be back healthy and safe in 2021. For the strength of the pack is the wolf, and the strength of the wolf is the pack!
